What to wear on a first datePosted 29th April 2016
So you’re going on a first date with someone you’ve just met or have liked for sometime. As well as exciting, a first date can make you feel nervous and get butterflies. I’m sure you’ll agree, confidence with how you will dress for this date matters a great deal more than any other occasion. You want to be memorable, the show stopper… But look as if it was effortless! I remember the first date with my fiancé, I was running around trying on so many outfits because this new person in my life was already very important to me. At the end of the day, I opted an outfit that was practical yet sexy. That’s the style I feel most confident in. I want to help you ooze this confidence through what you wear so that on your date you feel ready for anything!
The number 1 rule: Express who you are through your clothing. Bring out your unique style and own it! Although you can be playful with the different fashion trends, don’t try to be something you’re not. Trust that the guy you’re about to date likes you for you. HE LIKES YOU, that’s something to already feel happy and confident about.
Here are a few examples of what to wear on the different types of dates. Feel free to experiment with different colours and fabrics that you feel most confident.
The traditional first date; drinks followed by dinner
This figure hugging dress by Karen Millen is undoubtably going to give you the wow factor! The black panels at the sides will give the illusion of more slender hips, and it’s sexy without needing to show what’s underneath. Mystery always wins! As the dress is quite long, wear nude shoes like these by Cristian Louboutin to be an extension of your legs. Match the shoes with a nude bag. I love this cute little clutch from Kurt Geiger.
The day time date is more casual. Whether It’s a picnic in the park, visiting a iconic destination or going for a daytime drink, you can be dressed to suit them all! look effortlessly stylish!
The date may go so well that you continue on into the evening; going for dinner and maybe a few cocktails. Dress smart casual just in case the date goes from day to night, always be prepared.
Here’s an outfit that is perfect from day to night!
Wear this red blazer from River Island with the stunning black mesh top from Karen Millen to give a little sex appeal but in a subtle and classy way, and these fitted jeans to keep it casual from River Island. Emphasise the seductive red with shoes by Kurt Geiger and matching bag, big enough so that you can keep makeup to freshen up for the night. Also by Kurt Geiger.
Afternoon cocktails date; The cute, soft and elegant look
Imagine wearing this beauty on a summers day by the river, drinking a summery cocktail. Your date will be admiring a lot more than the beautiful day…
I hope you are feeling excited and got some great ideas for your date. Good luck!
